In front of the steps to the church at Montecassino stand two statues: St. Benedict on the left and St. Scholastica on the right. The statue of Benedict, though damaged in the bombing in 1945, survived with restoration; the statue of St. Scholastica has been recreated based on photos, as the original was destroyed. |

Entrance to the Museum.
One of a pair of greyhounds that at one time flanked the altar of the original 11th century floor. The grayhound mosaics are located in the Museum (pictured below right). |
Statues of three Saints. St. Crescentinus (above left) died year 303 AD., as a warrior saint.
St. Sebastian (above center) died year 288 AD., as a warrior saint.
St. Scholastica (above right) died year 547 AD. and she was the twin sister of St. Benedict.
